:bulletblue: History

Kyran lived most of his life in Britain, where at the age of 14 he began work as a gate guard, training in the service of a local knight. Although he had strong relations with his family, and was well liked by his church, he found himself dissatisfied with his service. He felt empty and remorseful, unsure of the purpose of his work or the legitimacy of his rulers. Eventually his dissatisfaction grew enough for him to leave home, setting out by ship to mainland Europe.

A man by Hideki Hayato provided him an explanation for his unease. Hayato, a Japanese scholar and swordsman traveling the European nations, informed Kyran he'd been "enlightened"; Hayato believed the European nations had been corrupted by a "black cloud", under which no human could happily live. Further, he believed Kyran had managed to discover this cloud, and was following a natural directive to seek a better way of life. Hayato told Kyran of the "land of honor", where people could live as they were meant to.

Kyran decided to travel with Hayato back to Japan. He believed the Asian nation could be a utopia, one which could spread the seed of enlightenment to the rest of the world. He trained in swordsmanship techniques under Hayato until their arrival in Japan. Once in Japan, Hayato quickly enrolled his new apprentice in the Samurai Duelers League. There, Kyran hoped to ascend the ranks until he'd have enough power to influence the Japanese government, convincing it to expand its rule to other nations, and eventually the world.

Kyran quickly picked up his first win, but shortly after this, things went downhill for him.

Hayato disappeared one night with no trace or note. Believing someone had discovered their goals and kidnapped Hayato, Kyran set out for him. He searched for nearly a week before he came across a group of traveling bandits. It was clear that they had taken his master. He attacked the bandits on sight. Hayato, who joined in the fight, was killed. Kyran, though taking a hard hit across the nose, defeated the bandits and survived.

Kyran was left without allies. He ripped the cross from his neck and cursed everything he held dear. The only direction he had left was the Samurai Duelers League.

The league eventually led him to a tournament hosted by another foreigner, Aurelio De'Seles. The tournament was team based. Kyran set to creating his team, searching out the disillusioned and outcasts. Before long, he found his movement growing into a full fledged army.

A plot by Aurelio led Kyran to attack Aurelio's Golden Promenade, in the process declaring open war on the Japanese empire. He took his forces to to the island of Fukue, where he secured a fortress and began plotting his war.

:bulletblue: Personality

Kyran believes very deeply in the importance of his causes. He's deeply disillusioned with what he thought would be a "Utopia State" He still thinks there's honor and dignity to be found in men, but no longer believes he can bring it forward on his own. Caught between pessimism and determination, he has only hard work to keep him going.

Kyran isn't much of a people person. Whenever possible, he keeps to himself. This isn't to say he's shy - when he needs to be heard, he makes himself heard. He spends most of his time doing cold, hard work, and doesn't take time for socializing.

Kyran isn't a particularly good or bad person. He's arrogant, self-centered, and prejudiced (in a number of ways), but he lives solely to fix the world for those who deserve it. Even if he dislikes someone, he rarely wishes them harm. This isn't to say he's warm and friendly; if someone irritates him, he'll get snappy fast. He believes in the value of work, and respects people who've earned their strength, whatever that strength may be. He has a harder time accepting people who lack direction. Nevertheless, he's tolerant of most as long as they're polite and don't put a foot in his path.

Kyran is slow to hate anyone in specific, but carries a lot of malice towards those he believes to be malevolent. He has a dangerous bloodlust and a rather twisted superhero complex.

:bulletblue: Notes

:bulletred: Kyran was blinded in the attack against Aurelio.

:bulletred: Kyran is formidably built, but only marginally well trained. His greatest asset is unshakable mental stamina.

:bulletred: Kyran's most important possession is his sword. It was given to him by Hayato.

This sword has a unique property. The precise shape of the blade, along with a slot near the tsuba, creates a distinctive sound, much like the call of an eagle. This diffused sound can trick ears trained to predict the location of a sword from its sound. Although not particularly effective against inexperienced fighters who rely only on sight, this disruption can thoroughly confuse the senses of more honed warriors.

From a smaller resolution, the art almost looks it was made with CG... and of the very good type.

Anyway, interesting character - he looks really familiar (for obvious reasons).
:icongreyflame:
Haha, thanks.

And yep ... Kyran shows up a lot xD

You should make your shading sharper and have a more definite light source. At the moment your shading is really basic so it doesn't have much effect. Think of things as 3 dimensional more. If you draw a fold in cloth with your line art, back it up with shading. Remember to put cast shadows and reflections in. If all his metalic bits are shining that brightly, then shouldn't there be some reflection in places? especially on his belt?

But...it beats cell-shading and your lineart was good this time.
